Every 8×8 cell gets one ink, one paper and one BRIGHT flag, so the colour clash is real. The audio is generated from your picture's own bytes using the ROM's tape timings — 2168T pilot pulses, 855T and 1710T bits — which is why the stripes, the sound and the picture all agree with each other.
